What the State of Philanthropy Tells us About the State of the Economy

There's typically a direct correlation between people's charitable giving habits, and how confident they feel about their short-term economic prospects. Here's what nonprofit leaders are seeing right now.

We hope you were able to join us for our nonprofit-focused edition of Coffee Chat with guests Barbara Merz (who led The Nature Conservancy's $7 billion, five-year campaign) and Michelle Prater (president and CEO of the North Georgia Community Foundation).

We covered quite a lot on this call—topics ranged from how to stay mission-driven during a moment where many missions might feel less essential, to economic information we can extrapolate from donor behavior—so we don't blame you if you want to revisit any of it!

You can check out the full recording here.

We also hope that if you're in a position to do so, you'll consider giving to a favorite nonprofit. Charities of all varieties are performing essential, even life-saving work right now, and they can use all the help they can get!

Check out recordings from other past Coffee Chats, or RSVP to upcoming sessions here! Or if you'd just like to reach out to suggest a future topic, or have any questions for us, send us an email at!
